Frequently asked questions

You’re a doctor—so why be a writer?

I believe in hunting your passions. Many of us have more than one passion. Once upon a time, I wanted to be a physical therapist, so I became one. But I also began to realize, during my time in college and grad school, that physical therapy wasn’t my calling: writing is. It’s been a long time in the making, but being a published author is the ultimate dream.

Wish me happy hunting :)

what do you write?

I write Upper YA historical fantasies with the occasional venture into dystopian and sci-fi. You can expect my stories to be rich with heart-pounding action sequences, vibrant and extensive worldbuilding, morally gray characters, and twisty plots. You can read more about my current projects here.

how many books have you written?

I’ve completed six. Of those, I revised three, polished two, and NaNoWriMo’ed one. I don’t think my first three will ever see the light of day, but I love them, and I’m proud of them! You can read more about my past and present projects here.

what inspires your writing?

As a very visual person, my books are usually inspired by things I see in nature, on TV, or in daily life. For me, if the worldbuilding isn’t there, the story isn’t there.

Plotter or pantser?

I think most of us are somewhere in between—that well-loved plantser realm—and so am I. I will usually have the first 2/3 of a plot pretty well fleshed-out, but I discovery write the characters!

Can I buy your books?

Not yet! But I do have a team of wonderful beta readers who have read for me. However, I currently don’t have any space in my beta reading team for additional readers. If that changes, updates will be made on my Instagram, so stay tuned!

Oxford comma or not?

Oxford comma, serial comma, or bust.
